Flower Power

Whew! It's been a while since I've had an update. College keeps me pretty busy, but now I've finished my finals last week and get a week to relax before I start Summer classes!

If you're in search of something to spice up a summer outfit (even if you're just laying poolside) I absolutley love flower hair accessories! Last weekend I went on a trip with my parents - my mom and I went to a butterfly garden where they had 700 butterflies flying free in a greenhouse and you were able to walk through. I happened to wear a coral flower clip in my hair and it attracted to many butterflies - I loved it!

Although these examples are pretty large, these can be found in all sizes, as well as on headbands.

My favorite thing to match this with is a cute summer dress for a date, or a day out shopping.

Be unique - have FUN with it

The denim jacket is back!

The denim jacket is back! Now, only in a more unique way! It is all the rage in Hollywood, and the original denim jacket has now been altered! These days, a studded, acid-wash, cropped, cut, hooded, or tie-dyed jacket is very popular. It's like the "denim jacket" had a make-over! I love it paired with a cute floral top or a summer dress!

What to (not) wear on an interview

Job interview coming up? Perfect! Here are some tips one what do to and what NOT to do.
You've spent a lot of time preparing for your interview, and when you look at yourself in the mirror, you're thinking you have the perfect hair, perfect shoes, perfect outfit, great makeup, etc. This may be the case, but you could possibly look so much different to others seeing you..
What you wear to an interview is so important, because no matter what type of personality you have or how intelligent you are, you can't attend an interview wearing dirty clothes with holes in them, too much makeup, revealing clothes... you get my drift!

Your best bet is to wear something that frames your face (A suit jacket, with a collared shirt/blouse underneath) - not low cut. You need to wear something that says, "I'm mature, smart, responsible, and I want this job". The interview is the first impression you get to "wow" an employer, and dressing the part is one of the most important things.

You can never go wrong with black, gray, white, navy, brown. A skirt and jacket would be ideal for a business type interview. This is one situation in which what other's think, matters. Don't ask yourself if you look good, ask yourself if the employer would think you look good for the position you have applied for.

Ideal for a younger women (in her twenties).

Check this link out Women's suits at Macy's
There are a wide variety of suits to choose from that would be great to impress an employer during an interview! Alot of them are currently on sale too! (whoo hooo!)

Suits.Shapes.Sizes.

Summer is fast approaching! (You know what that means....) BATHING SUIT SEASON. If any of you are like me, your cringing at the thought of that. Or, your spending your days at the gym! I'm going to share a few tips with you that might make this experience not so bad for you!

First. The secret is, not to get too small, or too big of a suit. Sometimes, you might have to go up a size. Bathing suits fit so much differently than other garments. You don't want the suit squeezing you in the wrong places, but you also can't be running around with one that's sagging on your body!

Look for something that flatters your frame. Ask for a second opinion when you're trying different things on. (Second opinions are very helpful!)

You need to be familiar with the different types of suits that are available..Tankinis- Obviously swim wear that is a tank top fit, that covers most, if not the entire stomache area. Swimwear with skirts - This will give more coverage for the bottom half of the body. Shortinis- a bathing suit that have shorts for the bottom. Lastly, bathing suits with blouson tops or one-piece bathing suits.

Suits that have a larger neckline or V-neck, adds emphasis on other areas and tend to give the body a more slimming effect. (PERFECT!)

If you are plus-size.. go with something cute that has underwire in the top (for support). Perhaps a cute floral or animal print, or a more rich color of suit!

Lastly, bunching fabric, bows, etc can do wonderful things! Don't forget a cute cover-up too!

Happy Weekend! xoxo-

Look Good in the Rain!

It's been raining for DAYS in Columbus, Ohio. It's starting to get everyone in a tired and grouchy mood. I feel like the sun just needs to come out for one day to brighten up some faces! I won't lie, on rainy days like today...I dress in rain boots, yoga pants, a tank, and zip-up! BUT - I started thinking, why dress crappy just because the weather is crappy!? I know so many of you are guilty of being the same way!

A must have for a rainy day!

Thank God for whoever decided to make these cute rain boots. It makes the not-so-great day, a little brighter...

Also, check out this link :  Cute Rain Coats - Target

Target has so much in terms of "rain-gear".
And everything is so resonable!

I just came across this website as well, I don't think I've ever seen so many rainboots to choose from. Some of them are super cute
BOOTS BOOTS BOOTS!!

Hopefully these cute styles interest you to brighten up your wardrobe on a rainy day! I know I plan on wearing my adorable houndstooth rainboots today as I venture to class in the rain!

Have a FABULOUS day

Easter-Wear

Easter is right around the corner! In fact, it's six days away. I've been counting down because my 21st Birthday just so happens to fall on the same day! Of course, it's important to look good everyday, but Holiday's call for a little extra attention. Being a college student, i'm usually on a tight budget. Luckily, Forever21 provides not only quality and beautiful garments and accessories, but the prices are great! I tend to flock there whenever I'm in the need of......well, anything! So, of course, I wondered to the store last week in search of a "cute" Easter dress. I found SO many, but ended up purchasing this first one..

At $17.00 you just can't beat it. As soon as I came out of the dressing room to get a better look in a different mirror, 2 customers and an employee were complimenting me left and right. That's when I knew I had to buy it! The belt in the picture doesn't come with the dress and I feel like it looks kind of awkward anyways! I plan on wearing white, or lavender heels with it.

Adorable. Cheap. A "must have".

Each one of these dresses would be perfect for Easter Sunday. The floral pastels are perfect for the occasion and you could def. get more than one use out of it! These dresses would be perfect for a spring/summer wedding, a day of shopping, a picnic date, etc! All of these dresses are $23.00 and under! What else could you ask for!?

Hope you find a cute outfit and have a Happy Easter!

Oscars; My Best and Worst Picks

Wrap up On the Oscars 2011. My Picks.

Halle BerryI love this nude and crystal accented dress. It kind of has a "vintage" feel to it. the long train in the back adds such a femine feel to it (As if it even needs that!) It's such a gorgeous dress! It reminds me of my Prom. I wore a dress similar to this one my Junior year, only it was hott pink! What I LOVE even more than her dress, is her hair! love.love.love!

Anne HathawayAlthough Anne changed her dresses a trillion times throughout the night, I prefer the one she showed up in. She has very pale skin and that looks very pretty with the bright red. Stick with that, Anne!

Scarlette Johansson(My FAVORITE)
Go figure, I'm in love with Scarlette's Lace Dolce & Gabbana dress. Everything about this is perfect, from the color, to the neckline. The peak-a-boo see through parts add a feminine but classy touch to it. Gorgeous.

Jennifer HudsonHey Jenn, can I have your new body please!?
She is SO pretty, especially since she slimmed down (a little fast but eh... that's Hollywood for ya!) This red-orange dress is such a beautiful color. Seemed that everyone had the same idea with wearing red for the night! Although parts of this remind me of something I would've worn to prom, she makes it look fabulous.

Amy Adams(My least favorite)
This blue sparkly long T-Shirt...whoops! I mean...L'Wren Scott dress, is awful! I don't think I would pay five dollars for this. I hate the neckline and sleeves. This would've made a beautiful strapless or one shoulder dress. Anything but this!

XoXo

Spring 2011 Trends

Finally (under bad circumstances) I have the time to write on here. I went to leave for work this morning at 9:30 and as I started up my car... it sounded (and felt) like it was about to fall apart. Something is wrong, for sure. Not the best way to start off a Tuesday morning. Needless to say, I had to call of from work. Now I have time to do this, and catch up on some homework that needs to get completed.

Trends (I Love) For Spring 2011

High-waisted flare jeans? Yes please. I get so tired of girls walking around campus, the mall, etc, wearing jeggings (which are to me, the worst invention ever) or skinny jeans. I've always loved the high waisted look, if you're lucky enough to pull it off. I remember, my first job (Bob Evans) we were told to wear black pants and a white button-up shirt. I tried to make my plain outfit, stylish, and sported the high waisted pant. These are great with a cute blouse and some heels. It's an easy way to add length if you're in need of it!

I'm so excited about this. I hope military wear never dies. This military-inspired jacket isn't a new trend for Spring 2011 but it sure is great! I'm very excited for it. Military has always been my favorite look.

The main color palette for Spring '11 is iris, viola, daffodil, poppy, and geranium. Personally, I'm a fan of the Aqua themed color palette. Blue, white, aqua, and gray are perfect for spring.

Lace and military wear are both big trends for the upcoming season.
Crochet and macrame are Spring 2011 trends as well. Which will be very interesting to see! If you like lace, like me, you'll love the macrame look.

Now only if it would warm up a little, it would start feeling like spring.

Lace. Bows. & Pearls. Oh My!

I love this tank. I have two just like it, only different brands. This particular one is found at Forever21. It has a very light feel to it and moves with your body. I personally like the scoop neck, but am not too fond of the look of these tops (from the side). They seem to add a good ten pounds to your stomache...who wants that!? I suggest, buying it in black (because we all know "black is slimming", and wearing a cute sweater/jacket overtop. For accessories? - pearls. pearls. pearls. You can never go wrong with lace and pearls. Or, a cute headband!

This is such a cute look. Maybe not for now since here in Ohio it is so miserably cold out, but I couldn't help myself. I love it! Something I love (going alone with lace and pearls..) is bows. The waist on this skirt is my favorite!

My favorite pick of all. I LOVE this dress more than I can express.I always feel so "pretty" in lace. It's a very lady-like material to wear.

And for the stick skinny girls...... adorable :)

All of these items can be found at Forever21.

I have been beyond busy lately! Although I haven't been working much, I'm focusing on school greatly this quarter and it's been keeping me on my feet. This week and next week are full of midterms. One down so far... and two to go. As my title says, "Never too busy to be beautiful." (Shout-out to mom and dad who got me a little plaque that says that..)

I love Lauren Conrad. Her clothing line is so simple, elegant, and girly. I would wear all of it.

Role Model Photoshoot

A month ago I came across an interesting person, Sandra Brogdon. She is the founder of a new magazine here in Columbus, Ohio (Role Model Magazine). She set fourth to "Educate, Inspire and Empower the young lady to live her best life" (RMM). I'm really excited for Sandra and I think what she is doing is GREAT. I asked if I could begin helping her with different things for the magazine, and she extended an offer for me to do a photoshoot, showcasing Henri's Cloud Nine prom dresses. It was a great experience! Here are a few pictures from it... enjoy!

Kayla, Sandra, Rimmy, Ariel, Svetlana, myself, Alexandria, Giovanni,Wolf and Natalie

Thank you Sandra Brogdon, and Role Model Magazine.

Never too old to look HOTT

Are you in your 40's and shopping at American Eagle, Hollister, Abercrombie, Forever XXI, etc?                                        STOP!       Shopping at these locations doesn't make you younger, or look younger, and it never will. Trust me, you're getting wierd looks from people of all ages. Not only that, you're probably the joke of the town!

My mom is in her forties, always complaining about how hard it is to find clothes suitable for her age. I couldn't agree more. We go on many shopping adventures together and each time, I watch her struggle to find something that isn't too young, but is still trendy.
Some great places to try shopping at are Nordstrom, Macy's. Kohls, JC Penney, Gap, and Coldwater Creek. I also really like Ann Taylor

This is a perfect jacket for someone on-the-go. It's stylish, comfy, and perfect for a spring day. This is found at Nordstrom.

Just because you're 40 doesn't mean you can't have fun with your wardrobe. Just know when tight is TOO tight, and low is TOO low. Don't be afraid of colors or accessories. Don't be afraid of shoes, especially heels. A cute pair of shoes can make any outfit fun! Later on I plan to expand on this topic greatly.. for future followers, and my mom (love you!)

It's in my blood..

Since this is my first time "blogging", I want to express a little of myself and show who I really am. What a perfect time to do it!
I am a 20 year old Junior in college majoring in Fashion & Retail Studies at The Ohio State University. I currently live in Columbus, Ohio which is a major change from the small town of Shelby I grew up in. I love living in a big city, but it makes me appreciate the little things back home. I am the youngest of three kids and I'm the only girl. My hobbies consist of baking, shopping, music, sewing, drawing, painting, photography, scrapbooking, coffee, movies, and spending time with the people I love most.

Regarding fashion interests?.....
Right now, I'm very much into the military look. I've loved it even before it was a big trend, and now that it's kind of dying down, I think I'm loving it even more.. haa! You'll almost always find me in black, lace, pearls, and scarves. Things I love

Marc By Marc JacobsThis particular military jacket is shorter than most. Being buttoned up all the way gives it a more masculine feel and I just happen to love it!

I'm particularly happy about lace being one of the biggest trends for Spring/Summer 2011! Although a little bit goes a long way, it adds such a feminine, classy touch to many outfits and I always feel so girly!
